It does not mean every person in the results has left custody. A newly booked person may still be held, while another may have posted bond soon after intake. Treat the tab as a lead for same-day activity, then inspect the record and confirm the outcome.
The county jail in Summerville and Hays State Prison in Trion also belong to different systems. The 24-hour booking tab concerns Chattooga County Jail activity. It is not a list of people discharged from Hays or any other Georgia Department of Corrections facility. GDC Find an Offender is the proper state-prison route. Federal and immigration transfers require their own federal systems. A missing name on the local current roster does not identify which of those events occurred.
Check Chattooga 24-Hour Bookings
Start with the online jail page when the booking was recent. The site offers first-name and last-name filters on its current, 24-hour, and booking-date tabs. Search carefully because a spelling difference can hide the right row. The page draws agency data through the county’s jail software, but no official update schedule is stated. Online results should therefore be checked against the jail or court when the timing matters.
- Open the Chattooga OffenderIndex page and select “Bookings Over Last 24 Hours.”
- Enter the first and last name. Review the arrest date, time, booked status, bond, charges, and court fields that load.
- Expand the record when details are available. Look for sentence, release date, and prior booking or release history.
- Check “Current Inmates.” A current listing points to local custody, but verify any conflict with the sheriff.
- If the person is absent, use the booking-date tab with previous inmates included. Absence alone does not prove release.
- Confirm the discharge through the sheriff’s jail record or the court order when a firm answer is needed.

Georgia law supplies the firmer field set. Under O.C.G.A. § 42-4-7, the sheriff’s jail record includes the day of discharge, the order under which the person was discharged, and the court that issued it. Note: A release date in an online detail should still be reconciled with the sheriff record or court file if records conflict.

Release means the jail’s custody ended under an order or another lawful basis. It does not always mean the person went home. A transfer to GDC, another county, a federal agency, or immigration custody removes the person from the local roster but continues custody elsewhere. Court records can explain whether bond, dismissal, sentence, probation, or transfer ended the local jail stay.
Chattooga Previous-Inmate Release Search
The “Include Previous Inmates In Search” box is Chattooga County’s most useful online release feature. It appears under the Inmates by Booking Date tab and warns that the search may take longer. Choose a date range around the known arrest or booking, then enable the box. Leaving both date fields blank can show all inmates according to the page instructions, but a focused span is easier to review.
This prior-inmate mechanism matters because released people usually leave the Current Inmates tab. It can surface past book dates, previous release dates, charges, court details, and related history when the source has those fields. The feature is still not a formal “released today” list. It finds booking records that can contain release data. Pair that data with the statutory jail record when the exact discharge day or authority is the point of the search.

MySheriff and Chattooga Releases
The Chattooga County Sheriff’s official site promotes the MySheriff mobile app as a mobile channel. That establishes the app as another place to check sheriff information. The reviewed sources do not prove that it carries a 24-hour release list, a 72-hour release list, or booking photos. Do not treat an app screen as a promised release feed unless the feature is visible and current.
The sheriff site and services page are also useful for finding agency contact and records options. If an app entry differs from OffenderIndex, the jail record and court order remain the stronger confirmation sources. Mobile notices may be convenient, but convenience does not change the meaning of a booking row or establish why custody ended.

Local outlets and social pages sometimes publish Chattooga sheriff booking reports or booking-photo summaries.
