Privacy Notice

This Privacy Notice describes what information Chattooga County Released Inmates receives, how that information is used, and when service providers or other parties may receive it. It applies to browsing the site, using a search tool, and sending a message. Search partners, official government portals, and other linked websites follow their own privacy rules once a visitor uses their services. By continuing to use this site, visitors accept the practices stated here. Anyone who disagrees with those practices should stop using the site.

Information You Submit

Terms Entered in Search

A name, place, or other detail typed into a search tool is sent to the third-party provider that operates that tool. Chattooga County Released Inmates does not store or log those search terms on its own systems. The search provider may process the query under its separate privacy notice and terms, so visitors should review that provider's disclosures before submitting information.

Messages Sent to Us

If a visitor sends an email or contact-form message, we keep the message and the supplied contact details long enough to review and answer it. Messages are not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law, a valid legal process, or the visitor's request. Sensitive personal information should not be placed in a general contact message.

Technical Data Collected Automatically

Basic technical information may be recorded when a browser requests a page. This information helps operate the site, understand traffic, and diagnose faults. The data can include:

  • The internet protocol address used for the request
  • Browser name and version
  • Device category and operating system
  • Pages viewed and approximate time spent on them
  • The referring website, when the browser supplies one
  • Date and time stamps tied to site activity

Cookies and Similar Storage

Cookies may be used to measure how visitors move through the site and to support site or advertising functions. A browser can be set to reject or delete cookies. Blocking them may cause some features, preferences, search tools, or advertisements to work differently.

How Information Is Used

Collected information is used for limited operational, measurement, and service purposes. Those uses include:

  • Keeping pages available, stable, and responsive
  • Sending a submitted query to the appropriate search partner
  • Learning which Chattooga County record pages visitors find useful
  • Finding errors, security issues, and other technical problems
  • Displaying advertising that may reflect a visitor's interests

Privacy on Linked Websites

Links may lead to the Chattooga County Sheriff's Office, the county jail lookup, Georgia Department of Corrections and DCS pages, court resources, VINE, legal resources, or outside search services. Those destinations control their own systems. Their privacy policies, data practices, availability, and terms apply after a visitor follows the link.

Advertising partners may use cookies or similar technology on their systems to recognize activity across different websites and select interest-based ads. That tracking is handled by the partner, not in a record maintained by Chattooga County Released Inmates. Visitors can consult each advertising provider for its controls and opt-out choices.

Parties That May Receive Data

We do not sell personal information. Data may still reach a service that performs a necessary function or an authority acting through lawful process. Possible recipients include:

  • Search partners that receive and process submitted queries
  • Analytics providers that measure use and site performance
  • Advertising networks that deliver or measure ads
  • Law enforcement or government bodies responding to a valid subpoena, court order, warrant, or other binding legal demand

Steps Taken to Protect Data

Reasonable, commonly used safeguards are applied to information under our control. Even careful safeguards cannot make an internet-connected service immune from interception, misuse, loss, or unauthorized access. No claim is made that storage or transmission is breach-proof, and no method of online security can be guaranteed as completely secure.

Visitors Under Eighteen

This site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under eighteen. A parent or legal guardian who believes a minor submitted information may use the Contacts page to request review and deletion. We will take reasonable steps to remove information that can be identified in our systems.

Your Privacy Choices

Depending on the law that applies and the type of information held, a visitor may make the following requests:

  • Ask for a copy of personal information we retain
  • Request correction of inaccurate personal information
  • Ask that retained personal information be erased
  • Object to or opt out of certain processing where that right applies

These choices apply to data controlled by this site. An official Chattooga sheriff record, GDC record, court document, search-provider record, or advertising profile is controlled by the office or company that maintains it. A request concerning those records must be directed to that custodian.

Changes to This Notice

This Privacy Notice may be revised as the site, service providers, or legal requirements change. A revised version becomes effective when it is posted here with a new effective date. Visitors should return to this page from time to time if they want to review the current practices.
